Mother’s Day is embarking on us in the quickest way, and I always seem to be set on buying Mom a perfume for her big day. This year however, I have decided to do something completely different, and this may possibly be an idea for some of you!
Every single year, at least it feels like every single year, I seem to get Mom her favorite perfume for Mother’s Day. I know, brilliant, right?...(Big eye roll)... Yes, I make perfume, and yes, I gift the stuff ALL THE TIME. By now, Mom has enough of her favorite perfume to last her 40 years. So, this year I want to try something a little different. I’m going to give my Mom the perfume that her mother wore. My Grandma Hansen passed away a few years ago, and feel that this may give my Mom a sense that Grandma will always be with her. Now if you are thinking that is a crazy idea, think about this. A person’s sense of smell is closely linked with memory, probably more than any other of our senses. Those with their full olfactory function, may be able to think of smells that evoke memories, places, events and even other people that were close to them.
Now, don’t go telling my Mom what I’m doing! I don’t think she’ll read this before it’s put online!
Happy Mother’s Day
XOXO
